DVDuesday - Step Brothers

This gets one of my highest reccomendations. despite the fact that the movie is hilarious, the additional content practically makes a second movie in itself. coupled with near perfect picture and audio quality, Step Brothers is one of the top Blu-Rays of 2008, and it gets 5 stars

DVDuesday - Dragonball Z double feature: Tree of Might/Lord Slug

This is the 3rd in the series of DBZ double features. It includes two movies that are practically the same film, but you know what? Fuck it it's Dragonball Z! It's so entertaining that I don't even care. The Picture/Audio quality is decent and I don't have too many gripes about this one, except there are literally no special features! WTF Funimation? i know there has to be something floating around the archives. Anyway if you like Anime or Dragonball Z pick it up without question. 4/5

DVDuesday: Quick Blu Ray Reviews.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - This is the Season Premier if the Cartoon Network series of the same name. It's a decent story, definately didn't warrant a theatrical release but entertaining nonetheless. Superior audio and video that you would expect from Lucasfilms, and a handful of decent to good high-def extras. There is a pretty informative behind the scenes look at the upcoming first season of The Clone Wars. Definate purchase for any Star Wars fan thats more than casual. 4/5

Dawn of the Dead (2004) - This remake of the George Romero original is definately worth a look. I don't have too many complaints about this action packed remake, it's easy to like since it is so much different from the source material. Sure it's a little over the top sometimes and definately more of an action movie than a horror, but still quite enjoyable. The Blu Ray isn't up to the quaity I was hoping for however. There are some key special features that were included in the standard def release that are not included for seemingly no reason. the sound quality is great and the video quality is definately an improvement over the standard def release, however i wouldn't consider this a top tier transfer. if you pick up the halloween starter pack on amazon which includes this, Land of the Dead and The Thing for around 40 bucks, then its a steal. Otherwise i would hold on to your standard def special edition, I know I will. 3/5

DVDuesday: Criterion Blu Ray Packaging.

I know alot of people have been wondering what the new Criterion Blu Ray packaging will look like, so I thought I would put a few up so that hopefully Googelers looking for any kind of news will hopefully have a short search.

I am not including the Chunking express packaging since it's pretty easy to find already, and I can't seem to find The Last Emperor packaging anywherem. But thanks to a good friend over at Bluray.com here is the packaging for: Bottle Rocket, The Third Man, and The Man Who Fell to Earth.
I also threw in a picture so you can see what the size ratio is of these to an actual Blu Ray Case.
